Ulundu murukku recipe – Urad dal murukku for Diwali

1 cup = 250ml

  • White, spherical urad dal -1/2 cup
  • Melted butter – 1 tsp
  • Hing/ Asafetida – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Salt – as wanted
  • Water – 1 cup + further
  • Cooking oil – to deep fry

HOW TO MAKE URAD DAL MURUKKU / ULUNDU MURUKKU

  1. Wash and stress prepare dinner urad dal including 1 cup of water in low flame for two whistles.
  2. Drain the surplus water and grind urad dal to easy paste.
  3. Sieve rice flour in a large bowl. Add cumin seeds, hing, salt and butter.
  4. Combine nicely. Add urad dal paste and blend until crumbly. Sprinkle little water and make non sticky dough.
  5. Fill the dough in murukku press. Squeeze and make shapes behind ladle.
  6. Drop in sizzling oil and deep fry each the edges until bubbles stop. Take away and drain in a tissue paper.
